Eudora Schools Foundation Announces Leadership Transition as Monica Dittmer Named Executive Director

Eudora Schools Foundation Announces Leadership Transition as Monica Dittmer Named Executive Director, Shanda Hurla Former

EUDORA, KS — The Eudora Schools Foundation Board of Directors has announced a leadership transition as Monica Dittmer has been named the organization’s next Executive Director. The transition comes as current Executive Director Shanda Hurla will step down from the role effective June 30.

Following her time with the Foundation, Hurla will continue serving Eudora students in a new role focused on initiatives related to college and career readiness and supporting post secondary success at Eudora High School.

“We are deeply grateful for Shanda’s dedication to the Eudora Schools Foundation during the past 11 years,” said Christy Bourne, President of the Eudora Schools Foundation Board of Directors. “Shanda has made a lasting impact in this community by growing and strengthening the Eudora Schools Foundation as we approach our 20th year. She has achieved countless successes along the way, such as our recent Give Day that raised more than $101,000 for Eudora schools.”

Bourne said the Board is excited for Monica Dittmer to lead the Foundation into its next chapter. “We can think of no one better to oversee the mission of ESF,” Bourne said.

Dittmer has been closely involved with the Foundation’s work and brings strong relationships across the community along with a deep commitment to supporting Eudora students and educators.

“What drew me to Eudora is the strength of this community,” Dittmer said. “I’ve seen people show up time and time again to support our students, and I see real opportunity to build on that. I’m excited to continue creating opportunities that will make a lasting impact for all Eudora students.”

Hurla played a central role in shaping the Foundation and strengthening the connection between the community and Eudora schools.

“Helping build the Eudora Schools Foundation alongside so many generous community members, educators, volunteers, and board leaders has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Hurla said. “I am incredibly proud of what this community has created together to support Eudora students. I have had the opportunity to work closely with Monica, and I have great confidence in her leadership as the Foundation begins its next chapter. I am excited to see the continued impact the Foundation will have in the years ahead.”

The Eudora Schools Foundation works to strengthen Eudora schools by connecting community support with opportunities that benefit students and educators across the district.
